With an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and a graduate degree from Duke University, Carol Kenny earned a Certificate in Literary Fiction at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Whispers from St. Mary’s Well is her first novel. Her story, “In Touch with Faith,” is in a Chicken Soup for the Soulbook.

Carol wrote her first poem at the age of seven. She always wanted to write fiction, but life intruded. Years ago, she wrote a weekly column of book reviews for a newspaper. She also wrote travel and feature articles for magazines and newspapers, before the era of the Internet. She founded an instructional design firm and wrote books for corporate clients like American Express, Pepsi, and Ralston Purina. She wrote the book, The Road to Home Ownership, for United Guaranty. It won the David Campbell Innovation Award for Creative Excellence.

Recently, she was able to follow her passion and focus on fiction. She won Honorable Mention in the West Virginia Emerging Prose Writer’s Contest and was a finalist in the Press 53 Short Fiction Contest. She wrote the poem, “Israeli Oxymoron,” at three o’clock in the morning, after returning from an Interfaith Mission to Israel, and it was published in Inspirit Literary Magazine.
